Stop trying to ā€˜get it together’. The biggest lie we’re told when we’re growing up is that soon as we’re adults, as soon as we’re in college, finish college, get that job, have that steady income, find that someone special, ā€˜find ourselves’, find that perfect house, get that retirement fund, have those children, everything will fall into place. Here’s a secret: it won’t. Every new development in your life, good or bad, big or small, will come with its own very special set of challenges. The sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be.

The World’s Most Beautiful Museums

ā€œIn poetically well built museums, formed from the heart’s compulsions, we are consoled not by finding in them old objects that we love, but by losing all sense of Time.ā€ - Orhan Pamuk

In honor of International Museum Day, we assembled a list of our favorite museums around the world. Museums house the world’s treasures—be they artistic, scientific or historical—and in turn they are often designed to reflect or enhance the collections they host.

Today’s charming conversation with my father includes wise words on why most retail stores fail and how I should take more classes in Philly after I finish at Ridah. My charming answers included musings on the fact that I’m working my ass off to be a healthy, productive member of society as it is and shitting on my already adjusted aspirations will not help at all. Also, that all he does is bitch about money so how am I going to spend more of it on theater and museum studies classes over an hour away from my apartment when I’m highly unlikely to get a job in a museum and I barely believe in theater as a societal concept at this point. Like hi, remember the disability you bestowed me with? Maybe think about it before you say negative things.

I don’t admit to being hopeless, though: only the spectacle is a profoundly strange one; and as the current answers don’t do, one has to grope for a new one, and the process of discarding the old, when one is by no means certain what to put in their place, is a sad one.
